Description
Offered is a vintage, used tile with painting print under glaze of R. C. Gorman's "Woman Picking Peppers". The tile measures 7 3/4" x 7 3/4" and is about 1/4" thick. Very nice depiction of the artist's painting, with nice colors. Weight before packing is 1 lb, 12 oz.Rudolph Carl Gorman (1937-2005) was a Native American artist of the Navajo nation. He was referred to as "the Picasso of American Indian artists". His paintings are primarily of Native American women and are characterized by fluid forms and vibrant colors, though he also worked in sculpture, ceramics and stone lithography. He was also an avid lover of cuisine, authoring four cookbooks, with accompanying drawings, called "Nudes and Food". (from Wikipedia).
This tile is old and used and shows splotching when tilted to the light (I tried to capture in the last 2 scans). There is plaster remnant to the back of the tile. There is a scrape at front bottom (picture 4) and a corner chip (picture 5). Still nice old tile of the artist's work.
I am listing 3 more of R.C. Gorman tiles and do combine shipping. Thanks for your interest!.
