Description

17 pcs. Illustrated Daily Life of the Kumeyaay / Diegueño Indians of southern California
Fresh from a San Diego, CA estate are these wonderful large prints of the daily life of the Kumeyaay (Diegueño) natives of southern California. They were apparently made in 1973 to be used for educational purposes.
There are 17 prints on heavy paper measuring 16" x 20".
(Note: I also obtained the 17 originals of these prints, which I am not yet selling, although you may inquire about them. They are ink drawn on heavy, stiff artist board and measure 16" x 16.5". You can see on the prints that there is an empty margin at each end, meaning that the originals and the prints are actually the same size. The originals also have penciled numbers and titles on the reverse.)
The box they are shown in (photo #7) is not for sale, only the 17 prints, which will be packaged securely.
There must have been more at one time because the numbers are not consecutive.
Here they are:
#9 - Indian Boy
#10 - Family Head shots
#11 - Mother Preparing Breakfast
#14 - Indian Family at Breakfast
#16 - Rabbit Skin on Baby on Cradle Board
#17 - Father and Son go Hunting
#20 - Grinding Acorns
#21 - Grinding Acorns (2nd Pose)
#23 - Acorn Baskets & Storage Ollas
#25 - Grandmother and Baby
#26 - Grandfather
#28 - Grandfather as Shaman
#31 - Hunters Return
#32 - Family Handiwork
#33 - Family Handiwork (different pose, under ramada)
#34 - Family in Home
#35 - Kwee Tahk asleep
Unsigned, but on the back of the originals (not the prints) there is a date stamp and possibly the artist's stamp.
Since these prints are blank on the back, before shipping I will lightly pencil in the numbers on the back so that you can match them with the titles.
My photos # 2, #3, and #4 show all 17 prints. That's what's available.
Photo #5 compares a print with an original.
Photo #6 shows what may be the artist's stamp on the back of the originals.
Photo #7 is the box they came in, which is not available.

A note on the “Best Offer” feature:
If you think my asking price is a bit too high, please don’t hesitate to make an offer. One of three things will happen if you do:
1) I will accept your offer (sometimes happens).
2) I will propose a counteroffer (quite possible). You may then accept my counteroffer, or you may propose a counter-counteroffer, continuing until we either reach an agreement, or not.
3) I will simply turn down your offer (rarely happens).
